Biography

Mazuir Shah has accumulated more than 24 years of experience in automotive propulsion system and vehicle engineering within industry and academic research. Mazuir joined Coventry University in 2018 as a Principal Lecturer in the School of Mechanical, Aerospace and Automotive Engineering. Mazuir is now an Associate Professor and responsible for teaching and research in the area of advanced propulsion system.

Prior to joining Coventry University, Mazuir has spent 12 years with Powertrain R&D team at Proton Cars, Malaysia and Lotus Engineering, United Kingdom. His responsibilities were focused on powertrain design & development for 1.3L - 3.0L (NA & SC) petrol engines from concept to production, with various technical lead positions.

Mazuir then spent three years at a start-up automotive company in Malaysia to set-up a team of R&D test engineers for vehicle system/ sub-system test activities and new test methodologies development.

Mazuir was appointed as a Research Assistant at WMG, University of Warwick in 2010 to work on Low Carbon Vehicle Technology Project (LCVTP), where majority of the research was focused on the system modelling of Hybrid Vehicle Architecture for advanced control strategies development. In 2013, he obtained PhD in Engineering from Warwick University, specialising in complex hybrid powertrain-vehicle system interaction for longitudinal response control strategies development via Model-In-the-Loop (MIL) and Hardware-In-the-Loop (HIL) platforms.

Mazuir continued his research at WMG under Technology Strategy Board (TSB) funding to develop new Validation techniques for Micro Gas Turbine as a Range Extender (VAMTRE) in collaboration with Bladon Jets and Jaguar Land Rover.

At the end of 2014, Mazuir joined a start-up company based in Oxfordshire as a Research Engineering Specialist. He worked on several vehicle electrification projects with main focus on powertrain, advanced thermal management, energy management and energy storage. He developed several novel solutions through multi-physics modelling techniques and has filed four patents. He has also established an industry-academic collaboration within these areas and co-supervised three PhD students at Cranfield University under Visiting Fellowship.

Mazuir is a Malaysian Professional Engineer and ASEAN Chartered Engineer. He is a member of The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET). He also served as Peer Reviewer for Vehicle System Dynamics (2016-2017) and EPSRC Funding Proposal
