Projects per year
Peter started his career in the automotive industry as an apprentice at Perkins Engines, specialising in electronics and instrumentation in the engine research division.
After gaining a first class honours degree in electronics, Peter made a career move into the music industry and joined Soundtracs PLC to head up the research division, developing DSP and embedded processors for digital audio products. During this period he wrote papers for journals and presented them at international conferences. Peter also gained a patent for parametric filter design.
In the early 90s Peter joined Samson Technologies, a large US corporation, to lead a development programme introducing digital and RF devices to a global market. This involved building development teams in the USA, Japan and China. In 2001, Peter was made Vice President of the company, overseeing business development, worldwide distribution and acquisitions.
In 2009, Peter resigned as vice president to pursue his interest in research and design. This led to collaboration with Coventry University and Microcab Ltd as the electrical consultant for their fuel cell vehicles. In September 2015, Peter became a permanent member of staff at Coventry University as a Senior Research Fellow on the Gyrodrive Flywheel Energy Storage project and supporting the SWARM fuel cell vehicle demonstration project.
Area of Expertise:
Electronics, Business Development
A life long passion for innovation and a love of product design have resulted in a career from Engineering Apprentice to Vice President of a large US corporation. This wide range of experience has helped me to guide and motivate the people around me, building confidence in their abilities, helping us to achieve major technological advances and bring unique products to a global market.
As a senior researcher I hope to continue this design philosophy and motivation into the low carbon, low energy arena, and confront the technological challenges of our time.
