Personal profile

PhD Project

My PhD research situates between the nexus of global trade and, development with the aim to identify critical factors influencing the Nigeria agriculture sector’s global competitiveness and provide actionable policy recommendations to enhance integration.

This research contributes to the understanding of how Nigeria, can improve its export value by addressing structural inefficiencies in its supply chain, trade facilitation, and adherence to global quality standards. It also bridges gaps in the literature by focusing on under-explored areas such the role of technology, power relations and, gender dynamics in GVC participation, offering new insights into fostering inclusive growth in agricultural trade.

My work bridges classical and Heckscher-Ohlin trade theory with Hymer’s firm-specific advantage and Dunning’s OLI framework to examine West Africa’s structural position in Global Value-Chains.

I investigate how trade regimes, border governance, and institutional asymmetries affect regional competitiveness, governments and development actors on policy strategies to strengthen agricultural trade and value chain integration across continents.
