Research Interests

Dr Soltani started his academic and research career in 2001 as a university lecturer in the mechanical engineering field with teaching different courses and supervising several final research and industrial projects. He received his PhD in mechanical engineering from Ferdowsi University of Mashhad (FUM) in 2012 on the nonlinear continuum modelling of nanostructures. Afterward, He joined the Structural and Material Computational mechanics (MSC) research unit at BATir department at the University of Brussels (ULB), Belgium.  In BATir, he worked on an industrial project joint with the SDT International Co.  with the aim of design, simulation and manufacturing novel low-frequency acoustic emission broadband sensors for vibration monitoring of rotary machines.

He started his 2nd postdoctoral project  when he joined the Space Structure and Systems Lab. (S3L) at the University of Liege (ULg), Belgium, where designing the piezoelectric vibration absorbers with the focus on the nonlinear aspects was his main task.

He then joined  the University of Sheffield (UoS)  as the  postdoctoral research associate of the Dynamic Research Group (DRG) and also as a member of theme 9 in the Programme for Simulation Innovation (PSi) with Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) . Developing novel ageing simulation tools for the JLR vehicles and JLR modelling platforms was his  main task in the PSi project.  

In his current academic position, as the lecturer in Mechanical and Automotive Engineering at the ​School of Mechanical, Aerospace and Automotive Engineering, Coventry University, he is   mainly focused on the area of the novel methodologies in  simulation of  the complex and nonlinear mechanical/dynamical systems with the specific  interest on  developing the digital simulation tools.
