Course Director - Lecturer - Researcher
I am currently based in the School of Psychological, Social and Behavioural Sciences where I lead the BSc Sport and Exercise Psychology degree, along with the MSc Health Psychology degree.
As Course Director for the MSc Health Psychology, I co-led the redesign of the course and curriculum, which was implemented in September 2023. The course has been well recieved, scoring 91% for overall satisfaction on the yearly PTES (May 2023), which increased from 65% the previous year. The course now aligns better with the BPS accreditation framework, promotes intercultural & inclusive engagement, incorporates research-led teaching and changes to health in a post-Covid world.
As a Lecturer in Psychology, I have experience of teaching on a range of courses (Health Psychology, Sport and Exercise Psychology, Applied Psychology and UG Psychology). I have experience with new module and assessment development, creating new content for students (both synchronous and asynchronous) and delivering content.
As a Researcher, I have worked on a wide range of projects both in and out of academia. My main research interests include: physical activity, exercise and health - exercise prescriptions - design, implmentation and evaluation of exercise referral schemes - behaviour change - behavioural insights - health psychology. Projects I have been involved in include home-based exercise programmes, active travel, travel habits, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, maternity and home births, children's physical activity, physical activity interventions for a wide range of health conditions and a range of service evaluations. More recently, I was awarded funding from Sport England to lead the research element on a natinoal project with Move Consulting and Active Partnerships National Organisation, where we are exploring the development of a Physical Activity for Health Pathway.
