    Abstract:
    The global transition toward sustainable energy systems has prompted the emergence of Energy-as-a-Service (EaaS) — a disruptive business model that shifts energy delivery from product-based to service-oriented solutions. This research explores how EaaS can accelerate the adoption of renewable energy by reducing customer investment risks and redefining the value proposition for both providers and users.

    Adopting a mixed-methods approach, the study combines qualitative case study analysis with quantitative evaluation to investigate the feasibility, challenges, and future potential of EaaS implementation, particularly in emerging economies. The qualitative phase involves in-depth interviews with energy stakeholders and service providers to uncover business, operational, and regulatory dynamics. Complementing this, the quantitative analysis evaluates adoption readiness and performance metrics using customer surveys and structured data modeling.

    By integrating insights from both empirical and statistical perspectives, this research aims to provide a holistic framework for assessing the viability of EaaS. The findings will offer strategic guidance for policymakers, energy companies, and sustainability advocates looking to adopt service-based innovations that align with global decarbonization goals.

    Biography

    Khosyi Torori is a Master’s by Research (MRes) student at Coventry University under the supervision of Professor Benny Tjahjono at the Centre for Business in Society (CBiS). His current research focuses on the Energy-as-a-Service (EaaS) model — an innovative service-based approach that supports the global transition to sustainable and renewable-powered energy systems. With a unique academic background in business statistics and a passion for systems thinking, Khosyi aims to blend analytical rigor with impactful, real-world energy solutions.

    He holds a Bachelor's degree in Business Statistics from Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) Surabaya, where he cultivated a deep interest in data visualization, customer analytics, and sustainability research. In 2023, he was selected as an awardee of the Indonesian International Student Mobility Awards (IISMA) and studied Marketing Analytics and E-Commerce Management at Coventry University, an experience that significantly broadened his global perspective and sharpened his research focus.

    Beyond academia, Khosyi has served as a Business Analyst at MarkPlus Corporation, where he contributed to numerous client projects through quantitative research, training module development, and strategic business insight delivery. He has also assessed consulting projects for over 30 students as a Consulting Project Assessor at ShARE ITS, evaluating casework in areas like sustainability, circular economy, and climate innovation. His role emphasized analytical evaluation, qualitative feedback, and the development of consulting capabilities among future professionals.

    As a Research Analyst, Khosyi has conducted field-based research with PDAM Surya Sembada, in partnership with PLN, applying advanced statistical techniques to evaluate water service performance — a project that strengthened collaboration between academia and the public sector.

    In parallel, he has demonstrated strong leadership as Director of Mentorship at the IISMA Alumni Club, designing four mentorship programs that impacted more than 3,500 participants. He led national-level collaborations, trained over 150 mentors, and introduced business acumen programs for student entrepreneurs across Indonesia.

    Driven by a commitment to sustainable innovation and inclusive impact, Khosyi is passionate about aligning academic research with actionable strategies that advance energy transformation, public service delivery, and the future of business ecosystems.
