    Research Interests

Researcher investigating the history of British dance teaching through the creation and reactivation of the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD) archive. This work combines archival recovery, critical analysis, and public engagement to illuminate how dance pedagogy in Britain has been shaped by cultural, social, and political forces.

My particular focus is on ballet: tracing its shifting cultural status from a Music Hall ‘folly’ to an institutionally sanctioned high art, and interrogating imperialist logics embedded in repertoire, pedagogy, and institutional practice.
