    Biography

    I am a Senior Lecturer in Finance at School of Economics, Finance and Accounting. I obtained my PhD in corporate governance from the University of East Anglia; I also hold an MA from Bradford University. I started my career as a Lecturer in Finance at Birmingham City University in 2010. My role involves both teaching and research. My research interests focus on corporate governance mechanisms and their impact on firm performance, corporate governance code compliance and corporate social responsibility. I have taught a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate modules, including Global Finance, Principles of Modern Finance, Financial Strategy, International Financial Markets, Research Methods and International Finance. I am the module leader for International Finance. I supervise undergraduate projects and postgraduate dissertations. I’m an academic personal tutor for undergraduate students.

    Research:

    My research interests are corporate governance and corporate social responsibility, with an interest in the consequences of various corporate governance arrangements, such as board and ownership structure, and board remuneration and ownership. I seek to understand the effectiveness of corporate governance mechanisms and whether compliance of corporate governance codes enhances firm performance. I’m the member of British Accounting and Finance Association.
