I am a final year PhD student at Coventry University with a background in Mechanical Engineering and project title, “Automated Post-Processing of Topology Optimisation Results”. I have a first class honours degree in Mechanical Engineering from Coventry University and am an Associate Member of the Institute of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE). My focus is on using Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and computer programming to improve the quality of topology optimised CAD models so that they are suitable for manufacture. In doing so I have created a Python Post-processing program that is separate from existing topology optimisation solvers and is able to reduce the time spent by a user to generate manufacturable solutions.
Recent achievements have included the publication of a review paper based on my PhD titled, “Review of topology optimisation refinement processes for sheet metal manufacturing” in a Q1 journal. Additionally, an overview of the PhD methodology and test case validation is provided in the research paper, “Development of an Automated Post-Processor for Sheet Metal Component Manufacturing”.
Further contributions include presenting my work at the 2018 IMechE Simulation and Modelling Conference to industry professionals as well as winning a university-wide research symposium poster competition. Recent work experience has included working at Honda R&D in Tochigi, Japan, providing simulation analysis and optimisation for the 2017 Civic models. Currently, in addition to my PhD, I mentor masters and third year university students in their FEA tutorials, dealing with coursework and general queries as well as providing guidance in and out of these sessions.
