    Personal profile

    Biography

From proofreading in a small magazine to communicating a $1 billion acquisition, my passions for research, financial communication and entrepreneurship would then lead me to the intersection of entrepreneurial marketing and entrepreneurial finance in academia.

Today, my research centres on using digital technology to break down traditional barriers and widen access to the world of business. I explore how tools such as crowdfunding, blockchain-based financing, and digital marketing can make entrepreneurship more accessible to a diverse audience. I aim to promote economic inclusivity, enabling individuals and small businesses to leverage the opportunities provided by the digital world, thus contributing to a more equitable and accessible society.

With almost a decade of teaching experience in higher education in the UK and Italy, I am Course Director for Coventry University MSc International Entrepreneurship within the School of Marketing and Management.

By managing teams of specialists both in global top-ranked agencies and in-house, I formerly supported Fortune 500 organisations across several industries, covering areas including corporate, financial (M&A and IPO) and crisis communications, digital, CSR, and employer branding in various business contexts. I also took part in a couple of startups and keep helping startuppers on a global scale tackle their marketing challenges.

For the last decade, I have contributed to national and international media outlets spanning Vox Media, the FT, The Times Weekend Magazine, The Birmingham Mail, The Market Mogul, EU-Startups, and Ethos Magazine. I post about my topics of interest at the intersection of business, society, and impact on my multi-awarded personal blog (thisisoliver.co) and blogged for the Financial Times.

A PhD in Entrepreneurship, two full-time MBA degrees, and a PgCert in Academic Practice in Higher Education complete my professional profile, along with executive education from LSE, SDA Bocconi, and the University of Cambridge.

A member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (MCIM), I am an Advance HE Fellow (FHEA).
