    Research Interests

    Louise's research interests include:

    • Optimal delivery methods of pulmonary rehabilitation programmes
    • Measurement of daily activity using physical activity monitors in people with chronic repsiratory disease and long term health conditions
    • The measurement of levels occupational performance and health status and in people chronic respiratory disease and other long term health conditions
    • Impact fatigue in long term health conditions

    Biography

    Louise has specialised in pulmonary rehabilitation since 1998 working in both research and clinical roles at Glenfield Hospital in Leicester. She completed her PhD at Leicester University in 2006 for which she investigated the effect of goal directed exercise in pulmonary rehabilitation. Louise then went on to work as a senior Pulmonary Rehabilitation Specialist and was latterly Pulmonary Rehabilitation & Nurse Specialist Services Clinical Lead for University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust from 2009 until 2014. She has published research findings investigating the delivery of pulmonary rehabilitation and has an interest in the measurement of daily activity, health status and occupational performance in chronic respiratory disease. Louise teaches undergraduate and post graduate occupational therapy students supervises post graduate research and continues to be involved in research projects involving people with COPD.

    Louise is a member of British Thoracic Society Specialist Advisory Group for Pulmonary Rehabilitation.
