Personal profile

Biography

I am currently in the first year of my PhD research at Coventry University.

Prior to my current PhD research studentship, I was an academic at Nottingham Trent University School of Art and Design for twenty eight years. This covered teaching professional practice and critical theory on the BA (Hons) Photography course, a four year period as Employability Manager across the School working on collaborative projects and driving the creative careers agenda, and finally as Principal Lecturer leading and designing BA and MA photography provision.

Research Interests

My research examines the experiences of mid- and late-career postgraduate researchers undertaking doctorate level study in the creative arts.

Previous research has connected photography, celebrity and photographic professional practice. I have published book chapters on the work of Cornel Lucas, the leading portrait and stills photographer connected to the British film industry in the 1950s.
