Biography

  • Lesley joined the Clinical Psychology Doctorate Programme in November 2012 as part of the Clinical Tutor team, and works 3 days a week for the programme. In addition, she works 2 days a week on a project exploring the need for Mental Health Continuous Professional Development in the local workforce.
  • Lesley is the Deputy Lead for Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) at Coventry University, trained as a Mental Health Adult and Youth Instructor and part of the MHFA team, training staff, students, and external organisations on MHFA aswell as running mental health promotional events and linking with Higher Education MHFA England.
  • Lesley is a Clinical Psychologist, having qualified from the Doctorate in Clinical Psychology Programme at Birmingham University in 2005. She has over 10 years clinical experience, initially working with Sandwell Early Intervention for Psychosis Service and then Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health Foundation Trust, with both the Birmingham Early Intervention for Psychosis Service and the Early Detection and Intervention team.
  • Prior to becoming a clinician, she worked in academia, gaining her PhD at Sheffield University in 1998, and going on to lecture and conduct research at Birmingham University and then Edinburgh University.
  • Lesley is passionate about increasing awareness of mental health issues, particularly within education.
