Personal profile


Krishna is a Lecturer in Health Psychology and joined the School of Psychological, Social and Behavioural Sciences at Coventry in 2011. Krishna is a HCPC Registered Health Psychologist. Her research expertise includes applying the principles of community health psychology to examine contextual factors that cause health disparities within marginalised communities such as perceptions of help seeking and barriers to accessing mainstream healthcare. She is also interested in the application of psychological behavioural change theories and evidence to the design and development of community-based health interventions. Evaluation of interventions is also a key focus of her work. Krishna has expertise in qualitative research methods.

Krishna is currently responsible for leading the Health Psychology module and teaching on other undergraduate modules on the BSc Psychology course. Krishna leads the Bio-Psycho-Social Aspects of Stress, Health and Illness and the Advanced Professional Practice in Health Psychology modules on the MSc in Health Psychology programme. She also takes an active role in the University’s international academic partnership agenda and has acted as link tutor for the Colombo Institute of Research in Psychology in Sri Lanka and is currently link tutor for Emirates Aviation University in Dubai.


Krishna is a Chartered Psychologist (CPsychol.) and a full member of the Division of Health Psychology. She is also a member of the Community Psychology Section and an international member of the Society for Community and Research Action (SCRA). She is also a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA).

Public Health; Health Disparities; Community Health Psychology; Intervention Development and Evaluation; Behaviour Change; Music and Health; and Action Research and Qualitative Methodologies.   

Vision Statement

Addressing important health and wellbeing issues through the application of scientific evidence to facilitate the process of positive behaviour change, has driven Krishna’s career as a Health Psychologist. Krishna welcomes queries from students who share similar research interests or academics from other institutions wishing to collaborate.
