Kevin has over 20 years of research expertise within the arenas of inclusive economies, the voluntary sector, and neighbourhood regeneration. He has an academic background in economic geography and urban studies, and is currently involved in a range of research around voluntary organisations, the cultural and creative sector, and heritage. Following undergraduate and postgraduate study at the University of Birmingham, Kevin worked in applied research centres in various universities and commercial consultancies across the West Midlands. Kevin has been at Coventry University since 2007, completing his PhD here via a 'Portfolio' route using outputs from 10 years of research. Kevin has undertaken evaluative research into many organisational support programmes, place-based initiatives, community-based projects and neighbourhood regeneration schemes.

Contributions to Research Enhanced Learning (including PGR and DBA supervision):

- Director of Studies for one PhD candidate and three DBA Programme candidates; second supervisor for two other PhD candidates.

- DBA Tutor for CBiS's 'DBA Programme', delivering key elements of this Programme.

- Co-delivers training on 'Qualitative Research Methods' for the Coventry University PGR community, as part of the Doctoral College's PGR Research Methods training programme

- Developed a Teaching Case Study, for teaching staff in the Faculty of Business and Law (FBL), on evaluative research into a business support programme for cultural and creative organisations delivered by Creative United (called 'Prosper').

- Provided research agendas to support the MBA Consultancy Project module, for MBA students.

The concept of the 'inclusive economy' is one that many would support, but converting this elusive concept into reality is challenging. There are constraints, challenges and opportunities for those organisations, agencies and governments aiming to develop more inclusive economies. It is only through robust evidence-based research that policy and practice will develop in this area to become effective in turning the inclusive economy into a reality. My evaluative research - across a range of contexts, sectors and organisations - aims to find solutions to such challenges.
