    Personal profile

    Biography

Currently, Jie is working on the project of UK-ASEAN Partnerships and Exchanges Baseline Research (UK-ASEAN PEER). In this project, she contributes to work packages on both transnational education arrangements and research collaborations between the UK and 15 East Asian countries and territories.

Prior to joining Coventry University, Jie worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Institute of Education in Xiamen University, where she contributed to the National University Undergraduate Education and Teaching Quality Report (2019), and the project of Supervisor-Postgraduate Relationships in China.

Jie's doctoral research critically explores the relations between institutional discourses and individual understandings in imagining what-is (and what could-be) sustainable international partnership in higher education in the UK and China. It examined how particular understandings of sustainable partnerships and internationalisation are narrated, represented and legitimised across and within the UK and China, and what are the alternatives to move beyond pre-constructed imaginaries of sustainable international partnerships in higher education.

    2. the landscape of UK-East Asia transnational education and research partnerships and how this informs the future partnership building
    3. China’s internationalisation strategies and practices and how this affects the inclusion, diversity, and quality of higher education within the country
