I am Assistant Professor at the Centre for Research Capability and Development where I support researchers through training, coaching and mentoring.
I launched and lead the ‘Coaching for Researchers’ programme that provides highly personalised support to researchers at any career stage. Coaching has become a key ingredient to professional success and an increasing number of career-minded professionals engage a coach to accelerate growth and achieve success. Our programme allows Coventry researchers to benefit in the same way.
Being an experienced researcher and a professionally qualified coach allows me to quickly establish rapport with researchers from different fields. It is personally very stimulating and fulfilling to support researchers to come up with solutions that truly excite them and move them forward.
Aside from coaching, I have a longstanding interest in improving the quality, integrity and usefulness of research. In 2006 I played a key role in launching an international programme supporting transparent publication of medical research (EQUATOR Network, http://www.equator-network.org/) hosted by Oxford University. Under my operational leadership the EQUATOR open online portal developed into a highly respected resource and the programme made a substantial impact nationally and internationally.
My current professional interests focus equally on improving the quality of research and the quality of researchers’ lives and the research environment. I am particularly interested in developing and evaluating more systematic and targeted coaching interventions to support research professionals in delivering impactful research and building successful, stress-free research careers.
