My background is in Spanish and Applied Linguistics, and I lived and taught English in Spain for over two decades. That included seven years teaching English for Law at undergraduate level in Madrid. I gained my PhD in Applied Linguistics in 2015 focusing my thesis on a corpus-based study of the comparative use of hedging in two written legal discourse genres. Currently, I combine research with course directorship of BA English and BA English Language, and teach on a range of discourse analysis and TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) modules.
