I completed my Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering from the Institute of Space Technology, followed by a Master’s degree in Control Systems from the National University of Science and Technology, Pakistan. My interest in Biomedical Engineering started when I worked on my Master’s thesis which was on designing non-linear control techniques for the control of chemotherapy drug. I am fascinated to see how the human body is an excellent example of a complex system operating with numerous control mechanisms, from regulating our body temperature, blood flow to tissue and providing oxygen, transporting this to the organs at differing activity levels, to maintaining blood pressure in blood vessels through autoregulation.
In early 2024, I commenced my PhD studies at Coventry University as part of an ETH Zurich (ETHZ)-Coventry University co-funded research attachment programme, under the guidance of Professor John Allen from the research Centre for Intelligent Healthcare (CIH).
My PhD project focuses on modelling to enable enhanced understanding of PPG pulse changes with vascular disease, ultimately enabling us to design better patient assessment tools.
