Biography
Dr Giuseppe Deganutti obtained an MS degree in Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Technology at the University of Padua (Italy). He then joined the Molecular Modelling Section at the Department of Pharmaceutical and Pharmacological Sciences for a PhD in computational chemistry under the supervision of Prof Stefano Moro. He contributed to the development and application of molecular dynamics methods for studying ligand recognition to the G protein-coupled receptors (GPCR) for the adenosine. He joined Prof. Chris Reynolds’ group at the University of Essex as a Post-doc in 2017, working on both class A and class B GPCR. In Essex, he co-authored several articles in high-impact journals. In 2020 he moved to Coventry University to establish a new research group devoted to GPCRs.
Research Interests. Dr Giuseppe Deganutti develops and applies computational approaches to understand class A and B GPCR structure and activation. He is also interested in ligand-protein recognition and structure-based drug design, antiviral drug design, and antisense oligonucleotides.
