    Vision Statement

Faouzi's research aims at leveraging communication, cooperation and automation capabilities through adaptation and learning and cognitive decision-making to support vertical industries (e.g., Automotive, Ground/Maritime/Aerial/Space Transport, Factories-of-the-Future, Media & Entertainment, Healthcare, Energy and Public Safety).

    Biography

Faouzi Bouali is Assistant Professor (Senior Lecturer) in Next-generation Communications and Networking at the Centre of Future Transport and Cities (CFTC) at Coventry University.

From 2015 to 2021, he worked as Research Fellow and Teaching Assistant with the 5G/6G Innovation Centres (5GIC/6GIC) at the University of Surrey, UK. He is Principal Investigator on the ongoing BEACON-5G (Building REconfigurable, Agile, SeCure, and TrustwOrthy Systems for OpeNness in 5G) project (£1,57 million), funded by the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) in the context of the Open UK Future RAN (FRAN) competition. From August 2019 to January 2021, he served as the Technical Manager (TM) of the Automotive vertical of the Horizon 2020 5G-HEART project (14.3 M€) investigating and trialling the capability of 5G systems to support advanced Automotive use cases. During the same period, he was an active member of the Technology Board (TB) of the 5G Infrastructure Public Private Partnership (5G PPP) and its Automotive and Pre-standards Working Groups (WGs). From May 2005 to September 2015, he worked as radio optimization engineer and consultant in various public and private projects with most of the key telecom vendors (e.g., Ericsson, Huawei and Alcatel).

Faouzi has been involved in various research projects funded by the European Commission Horizon 2020 Framework Programme (i.e., 5G-HEART, 5GENESIS and Speed-5G), the 7th Framework Programme for Research and Technological Development (i.e., FARAMIR, OneFIT and HELP) and BT Research, UK. His expertise and research interests span the field of cooperative, connected and automated systems with a specific focus on wireless communication and networking.
