    Sulfur and iron biogeochemical cycling


    Eva graduated with a PhD from the Department of Biochemistry at the Masaryk University (Czechia) in 2016. From 2015 to 2017, she worked as a post-doctoral fellow at the Bangor University (UK), developing a new mining concept for extracting metals from deep ore deposits, using biotechnology. During her 2nd postoc (University of Waterloo, Canada; 2017-2019), Eva contributed with her microbiological expertise to the development of improved strategies for managing mine-waste environments and implementation of the innovative remediation technologies at an industrial scale. 

    In 2020, Eva joined the Centre of Sport, Exercise and Life Sciences at Coventry University (UK) as Assistant Professor in Bioengineering and Biotechnology. She focuses on extracting base and precious metals predominantly from secondary sources, such as electronic waste, using microorganisms.
