    Biography

Ernesto Mastrocinque is Senior Lecturer at the School of Engineering, at Coventry University. Prior to joining Coventry University, he was Research Fellow at the School of Management of Royal Holloway, University of London, working on the development of a decision-making model for strengthening the UK composite materials supply chain. He has also been Research Fellow at the Department of Industrial Engineering of University of Salerno (Italy) and Visiting Researcher at the School of Engineering of Cardiff University, where he worked on the development and application of nature-inspired algorithms for supply chain network design and optimisation.

Ernesto's research interests include decision-making and optimisation for manufacturing and supply chain management. He has conducted research on multi-objective supply chain network optimisation, sustainable supply chain development, impact of emerging technologies on sustainability within supply chains, logistics networks optimisation, strategic planning and supply chain design, inventory management, supplier selection, scheduling, technology selection in high-tech manufacturing supply chains, composite materials supply chains, renewable energy supply chains, manufacturing and quality process optimisation, innovation management, nature-inspired optimisation algorithms. He has developed various methodologies based on meta-heuristics, nature-inspired optimisation algorithms, multi-criteria decision making (MCDM) analysis, simulation techniques, machine learning techniques and fuzzy logic. He is currently focused on global challenges such as sustainable development, Industry 4.0/5.0, AI and digital technologies in the context of manufacturing and supply chain management.

His research work has been published in a number of journals including Computers & Industrial Engineering (Elsevier), Expert Systems with Applications (Elsevier), IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management (IEEE), Journal of Engineering and Technology Management (Elsevier), Production Planning & Control (Taylor & Francis), Swarm and Evolutionary Computation (Elsevier), Technological Forecasting and Social Change (Elsevier).

Ernesto is currently leading a number of engineering management and manufacturing modules, within various engineering degree programmes at Coventry University, both at undergraduate and postgraduate level. He is also Director of the MSc in Production Engineering and Operations Management.

He completed the Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practice in Higher Education (PgCert) at Coventry University and the Postgraduate Certificate in Skills of Teaching to Inspire Learning (inSTIL) at Royal Holloway, University of London. He is Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
