    Biography

    Ernesto Mastrocinque has over 10 years' research and teaching experience in higher education. He currently works at the School of Mechanical, Aerospace and Automotive Engineering and he is member of the Institute for Future Transport and Cities, at Coventry University. Before joining Coventry University, he was Research Fellow at the School of Management of Royal Holloway, University of London (UK), working on composite materials supply chain. He has also been Research Fellow at the Department of Industrial Engineering of University of Salerno (Italy) and Visiting Researcher at the School of Engineering of Cardiff University (UK), where he worked on the development and application of nature-inspired algorithms for supply chain network design and optimisation. He received his Bachelor's Degree, Master’s Degree and PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Salerno. He is a Chartered Engineer in Italy.

    Ernesto's research interests include decision making and optimisation for manufacturing and supply chain. He has conducted research on multi-objective supply chain network optimisation, supplier and technology selection, scheduling, manufacturing process optimisation, nature-inspired optimisation algorithms. He has developed different methodologies based on metaheuristics, nature-inspired optimisation algorithms, multi-criteria decision making (MCDM) techniques, fuzzy logic. He is currently focused on Industry 4.0 and sustainability related issues.

    His research work has been published on a number of journals including Computers & Industrial Engineering (Elsevier), IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management (IEEE), Expert Systems with Applications (Elsevier), Production Planning & Control (Taylor & Francis), Swarm and Evolutionary Computation (Elsevier).

    He is member of the Editorial board of Cogent Business and Management (Taylor & Francis) and the International Journal of Energy Optimization and Engineering (IGI Global). He also acts as a reviewer for several international peer-reviewed journals, book chapters and he is member of technical committees of international conferences.

    He completed the Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practice in Higher Education (PgCert) at Coventry University with Merit and the Postgraduate Certificate in Skills of Teaching to Inspire Learning (inSTIL) at Royal Holloway, University of London. He is Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
