Personal profile
PhD Project
My research involves fabricating sorbents with selective wetting behaviour to be used in the purificaton of water systems containing a mixture of water and oils. These sorbents will have to be easy and cheap to manufacture so that they can be easily deployed in the purification of water systems in developing communities where oil polluted water systems seem to be a common sight. the research will make use of food waste such as orange rind, corn cobs, and banana peels as the material precursors for the sorbents thereby extending the useful life of these items in line with the concept of circular economy.
