    Biography

    He is a third-year PhD student at the Centre for Business in Society (CBiS) within the Faculty of Business and Law (FBL) at Coventry University. His research focuses on Educational Management which is an interdisciplinary research encompassing his academic and professional backgrounds - combining concepts of learning such as lifelong learning, self-directed learning and adult education, with concepts of management such as human resources development (continuous professional development), learning organisations, organisational learning, motivation, and culture.

    Before pursuing his PhD, he earned a master's degree in International Business Management from Coventry University, a postgraduate certificate in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education from the University of London, and a bachelor's degree in Hospitality Business Management from the University of Birmingham. He holds teaching certifications in English and foreign language instruction, and he is recognised as an Associate Fellow by the Higher Education Academy (AdvanceHE) and as a recipient of the University of London Worldwide Recognised Tutor Status.

    LANGUAGES: In addition to English, he is fluent in Malay, Korean, Indonesian, and Mandarin. He has a genuine passion for language learning and acquisition, having explored diverse languages and cultures, including French, Italian, Spanish, German, Arabic, Japanese, American Sign Language, and British Sign Language.

    TEACHING: With teaching experience in higher education, he has delivered modules both in face-to-face and online settings. He adeptly utilizes platforms such as Microsoft Teams and Zoom, employing various teaching aids to enhance the learning experience. He has actively contributed to the development and implementation of a Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) program at Coventry University in fostering cross-cultural awareness and understanding across his students. His teaching has consistently garnered high satisfaction rates, as evidenced by positive feedback received through Module Evaluation Questionnaires (MEQs) administered by the Student Surveys Team under the Office of Teaching and Learning.

    OTHER RESEARCH INTERESTS:

    In addition to these main research areas, he also devotes his free time to exploring other subjects. He has a keen interest in researching cultures, language learning, language teaching, language acquisition, language preservation, endangered languages, and language extinction, particularly within the Austronesian language group. He is also intrigued by the law (English Common Law), legal systems, and policies and their impact on our daily lives.

    PhD Project

    His research within Educational Management which is interdisciplinary that investigates the factors impacting the learning and development (within the realm of continuous professional development, organizational learning, self-directed learning, continuous improvement, and adult education) of academics within Higher Education Institutions across several countries - providing context into the factors which impact learning and development. This research aims to gain a better understanding of the factors influencing the learning and development of academics, with the ultimate goal of providing solutions and recommendations to enhance their personal and professional development or continuous professional development of employees within Higher Education.

    Master's Project

    His master's dissertation during his MSc in International Business Management was titled "Self-Directed Learning: Investigating the influence of Company Employees' Self-Directed Learing in the satisfaction of customers", achieving a distinction grade for the dissertation.
