Biography

Ebrahim Abtahizadeh is a lecturer in Aerospace Engineering at Coventry University, after being awarded a PhD in Mechanical Engineering in 2014 from the Eindhoven University of Technology. The title of his dissertation was “Numerical study of Mild combustion from laminar flames to Large Eddy Simulation of turbulent flames with Flamelet Generated Manifolds” under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Philip de Goey and Dr. Jeroen van Oijen. In continuation to his PhD research, he worked as a postdoctoral fellow in the same university for 19 months. The aim of his postdoctoral research was to perform High Performance Computations (HPC) of turbulent combustion in aero gas-turbines. He proposed a novel, reduced and efficient turbulent combustion model for CFD simulations of aero gas-turbines, which was applied and validated in Large Eddy Simulations (LES) and Direct Numerical Simulations (DNS). This project was in collaboration with Rolls Royce, Siemens and funded by the Dutch Technology Foundation (STW). The findings were published in several high-impact scholarly journals and well-known international conferences.
