Biography

Dr Dibakor Boruah was a former PhD researcher (2017-2020) in the Centre for Materials and Manufacturing Engineering at Coventry University. His PhD research was on the structural integrity assessment of cold sprayed Ti6Al4V alloy for repair and additive manufacturing applications. His industry-driven research was based at the National Structural Integrity Research Centre (NSIRC), TWI Ltd, Cambridge; which was sponsored by the Lloyd’s Register Foundation (LRF) and Coventry University. He was awarded The Welding Institute’s Best PhD Student 2019 and TWI's Industrial Impact Award 2019, which recognises the significant contribution of his research work for solving an industrial problem by taking an innovative approach. Prior to his PhD research, he has completed his master’s degree (MSc) in Advanced Mechanical Engineering with distinction from the University of Sussex, UK, for which he was awarded the Chancellor’s International Scholarship 2015. His undergraduate degree (BE) was in Mechanical Engineering with first-class honours from Gauhati University, India.

Research Interests

Cold spray, additive manufacturing, residual stresses, materials characterisation and mechanical testing under static and fatigue loading conditions, fracture mechanics, thermal treatments, repair/remanufacturing of metallic components, structural dynamics, finite element analysis, machine learning.
