Biography

 

I joined Coventry University in January 2017 as a Senior Lecturer in Solid Mechanics and I currently lecture MEng and MSc level Stress and Dynamics, concentrating on finite element methods. As an active researcher, to date, I have published 2 books, 8 book chapters, 23 journal papers and 20 conference papers in laser material processing, healthcare engineering and wettability/adhesion characteristics. On account of my wide ranging expertise, I am also a journal manuscript reviewer for 13 international journals and an external expert for the European Union COST Action Research Programme. I am involved in industrial research, working over a number of different industries, and to date I have received £750,000.00 in industrial research grants. Furthermore, I have one patent pending and have personally been the recipient of 8 awards with a total value of £2,575.00.

 

Research:

 

I am an active member of the Laser Engineering and Manufacturing Research Group, based within the Institute for Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering. Owed to my activity in the field of material science, I have been appointed to the position of Editor-in-Chief for The International Journal of Wettability Science and Technology.

To date I have been awarded sixteen research/industrial grants with a total value of £750,000. My industrial research collaborators include the likes of Cryovac Sealed Air, Flextronics Ltd, Loughborough Surface Analysis Ltd., C-Tech, Elcometer, NHS, Siemens Industrial Turbomachinery Ltd., Marks and Spencer, Waters and Ishida.
