    Biography

     

    David is an Assistant Professor in Project Management within the School of Strategy and Leadership. David is a PRINCE 2 qualified project manager with 20+ years’ experience in private and not-for-profit sectors, including telecommunications, ICT, sustainable energy, rural development and agriculture. Prior to becoming a full-time academic, he co-ordinated the UK involvement in two European Commission funded projects designed to improve energy efficiency.

    David’s teaching experience stems from delivering TQM training in the 1990s, designing and delivering CPD courses in Project Management through the University’s Centre for Lifelong Learning and developing and facilitating workshops on strategic planning for charity CEOs (funded through the  Cabinet Office's Capacity Builders programme). He currently teaches Strategic Portfolio and Programme Management for MSc students and leads the Undergraduate Internship programme. 

    David is currently Course Director for the BSc. Project Management degree apprenticeship programme. David has an MSc in Telecommunications and Information Systems from Essex University, a PG Diploma in Applied Management from Salford University and a BSc in Computer Science and Chemistry from Aston University. He has a PG Certificate in Higher Education and is a Senior Fellow of the HEA.

    Vision Statement

    My main research interest is in pedagogy, in particular how new technology can enhance teaching and learning. With my commercial background, I am keen to develop closer links with business in applied research/consultancy as well as exploring opportunities for student internships and other ways of exposing students to real-life business situations.
