Personal profile

Research Interests

I am an historian of modern Britian. With a particular interest in intelligence and espionage history and the Home Front during the Second World War, my work has focussed on the dynamics of class and gender on secret organisations. At present I am writing a biography of John Cairncross, the so-called "fifth man" of the Cambridge Five spyring.

Biography

I joined Coventry University in February 2017, prior to which I taught at Bournemouth University, the University of Kent and Worcester University. I read history at Aberystwyth University where I stayed on further to complete both an MA and PhD.
