Biography

Carolyn is the Director of the Doctoral College & Centre for Researcher Capability at Coventry University and a part time PhD candidate. Her particular research interests are around the value of doctoral study, the structures that support Graduate Education and the role of Deans and Directors of Graduate Schools. She acts as an external reviewer for Graduate Schools and Doctoral Colleges and is an experienced panel reviewer for Research Council DTPs.

Carolyn is a Board Member and Trustee of the UK Council for Graduate Education and Chairs the University Alliance Heads of Graduate Schools Network.

PhD Project

My doctoral thesis is exploring the motivations and perception of value of doctoral study among professional services leaders in UK Higher Education Institutions. My research involves a compartive study across a variety of senior leaders in both pre and post '92 intitutions to better understand ideas of credibility, identity and career trajectories in professional service roles.
