Personal profile


I have a background in media, business and engineering teaching as well as in research, and am using these twin backgrounds while currently seconded to the university group's Curriculum 2025 Team. This team supports colleagues in refreshing courses to meet the needs of tomorrow's professionals and leaders, and my particular interest is in embedding measures to support equity of attainment, inclusivity and sustainability.

I have recently completed work on the £1m OfS-funded DRIVER project. Led by Coventry University, this West Midlands regional partnership project used learner analytics to address barriers to student success. I am also working with the new Centre for Transforming Access and Student Outcomes in Higher Education (TASO), identifying good practice and gaps in evidence of what works when enhancing access to, and participation in, HE.

I have published work on teaching excellence, gender disparity in HE, and behaviour change (in both higher education and energy consumption contexts), am an Associate Editor of the journal Higher Education Research & Development and Senior Fellow of the HEA.
