Biography
Dr. Arivazhagan Anbalagan is currently an Assistant Professor in Digital Manufacturing, Centre for Manufacturing and Materials, The Institute for Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering (AME), Coventry University, UK.
He is an Industry infused Academic Researcher with experience in Mechanical, Manufacturing and Materials Engineering (covering Digital Engineering, Hardware, Software and Management (quality - time & cost)). Passionate about solving engineering problems in mechanical, manufacturing & materials engineering through developing / integrating high-performance intelligent systems / smart engineering by interdisciplinary research.
Prior joining, Dr. A. Arivazhagan led industrial, academic and post-doctoral positions in UK universities on implementing Manufacturing / Machining / CAD / CAM / CAPP automation / Industry 4.0 / Robotics /Digital Twin for industries through academia giving considerable research to business impact in terms of cost & lead time reduction.
Some include (i) Robert Gordon University (2020-2021) (iii) University of Birmingham (HTRC/ Rolls-Royce) (2017-2020) (iv) Queen’s University Belfast (2015-2017)
With his experience of more than 17+ years he has commendable ‘hands on’ skills in Hardware, Software and ICT technologies.
Hardwares includes operating (i) CNC Machines (milling/ drilling/ lathe) (Siemens / Heidenhain / Fanuc) (ii) Metrological machines such as CMM (Carl-Zeiss) and Alicona (3D Light based measurement), (iv) Robots (v) SEM, Precision Microscopes etc.
Softwares and ICT's include (i) CAD / CAM / CAPP usage (Siemens NX, Solidworks, AutoCAD, Vericut etc.,) and their software (methods / algorithm) development using C/C++/JAVA/C#.Net/Python. (ii) Node-Red (iii) Internet of Things (IoT) platform - Insights Hub (mindsphere)
