    Dr Amy Harwood joined the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences in May 2020 is a research fellow in Clinical and Exercise Sciences at Coventry University. Amy is currently deputy theme lead for Cardiovascular and Lifestyle Medicine | Coventry University. She is a BASES accredited sport and exercise scientist and obtained her PhD in exercise for peripheral artery disease from Hull York Medical School. Amy is also a qualified vascular sonographer having obtained certification from The University of Leeds in 2015. 


    Research Interests

    Amy has extensive clinical and research experience working with patients with peripheral artery disease and is experienced in clinical trials and obervational studies in clinical exercise physiology and rehabilitation for patients with cardiovascular disease. Amy is also interested in understanding ajunct therapies such as heat therapy in specific clinical populations. 

    PhD Project

    Amy is currently director of studies to Alexander Waddell. The project aims to understand habitual activity behaviour and patient requirements for a home-based exercise programme in people with peripheral artery disease and will develop a novel home-based programme. Alex started his PhD in January 2021.
