Biography

 

Albert Jolink obtained his Master’s degree in Economics from Erasmus University Rotterdam. In 1991 he obtained his PhD in Economics cum laude from the Tinbergen Institute. He was Director of Graduate Studies of the Erasmus Institute for Philosophy and Economics at the Department of Philosophy of Erasmus University, Scientific Director of the Center for History in Management and Economics at the Rotterdam School of Management and Academic Director of the Part-time Master Business Administration of the Rotterdam School of Management. He was Associate Professor at the Rotterdam School of Management of Erasmus University Rotterdam until 2013 and N.G. Pierson Professor at the University of Amsterdam until 2012. From 2005-2010 he was Editor-in-Chief of the influential economic bi-weekly Economisch Statistische Berichten.

From 2013-2014 he was Vice Dean and Head of Department Economics and Business of Erasmus University College, of Erasmus University Rotterdam. In Spring 2014 he obtained the N.G. Pierson Chair at the Erasmus School of History, Culture and Communication of Erasmus University Rotterdam. He has since joined Coventry University Business School as Reader in Strategic Management.

Vision Statement

I have always sought faculty positions that strongly promote rigorous academic research; I shall continue the rigorous research program I started decades ago and expect to continue publishing findings. I wish to become a leader in my discipline, conducting valuable research, and publishing scholarship for academic and lay audiences. As a faculty member, I shall continue always to accept responsibility for making my research relevant to the communities in which I conduct it. I look forward to the challenge of considering new approaches for analyzing serious societal issues.
