    Biography

    Dr Agnieszka Lewko is an Assistant Professor of Healthcare Research. She is an HCPC-registered physiotherapist with a PhD in Healthcare Science and a research leader in respiratory and critical-care physiotherapy with a strong record of international collaboration, clinical research impact, and capacity building. Her professional expertise is in cardiorespiratory physiotherapy, pulmonary rehabilitation, and respiratory care within primary and secondary care settings. She has gained clinical and research experience in Poland, Belgium and the UK. She also has an independent and supplementary prescriber qualification.

    She led the Physiotherapy Provision and Practice: A EuropeAn Intensive CarE Unit (ICU) Survey (PEAiCE)  study, which included 845 participants from 33 European countries and the PEAiCE LATAM study in Latin America. 

    She leads the Interdisciplinary Clinical Academic Health Research Excellence (i-CAhRETM) Bronze Early Career Development programme for NHS healthcare professionals in collaboration with the University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire.

    She is Chair of the Evidence and Guidance Group for the Association of Charted Physiotherapist in Respiratory Care (ACPRC). She has also been a part of the ERS Task Force group for the HERMES (Harmonised Education in Respiratory Medicine for European Specialists) project (2012-2017) that  developed a harmonised syllabus and curriculum for post-graduate education in respiratory physiotherapy in Europe. 

    My vision is to advance rehabilitation and respiratory care through research that transforms clinical practice, informs policy, and builds sustainable professional capacity across health systems.
