    Biography

    Abay is Associate Professor of economics at the Faculty of Business & Law and a research associate at the Centre for Financial and Corporate Integrity (CFCI) at Coventry University. Abay's training is in environmental economics, international trade and development economics. He did his doctorate at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam.

    Before joining Coventry University in 2016, Abay held research positions at the London School of Economics and the University of Cambridge, Lectureship at the University of Manchester and Senior Lectureship at London Metropolitan University.

     Research

    Abay's main research covers empirical international trade, environmental and development economics. His current research focusses on issues at the intersection between trade/FDI and the environment; development and the environment; and trade and development. Abay recently completed a Leverhulme Research Fellowship on a research project titled Environmental Regulation and International Competitiveness.

    Abay welcomes PhD students, particularly in these research areas.

    Teaching

    Abay is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. His main areas of teaching are: Econometrics; Microeconomics; International Economics; Environmental Economcis.
