    Press/Media: Public Engagement Activities

    Description

The FAiR (Frugal Artist-in-Residence) initiative was featured on Malaysia’s Bernama TV’s national breakfast show Apa Khabar Malaysia (30 min mark), where Sylvester (PI of the FAiR project) was interviewed live about the project’s vision and impact. FAiR brings together artists, educators, and communities to co-create artworks using everyday and discarded materials, transforming waste into powerful messages of sustainability. The segment highlighted workshops supported by UNIMAS’s Gamification Centre, where participants designed eco-conscious sculptures and storytelling installations rooted in local culture. By blending art, science, and frugal innovation, FAiR empowers communities to take action on environmental issues through creative expression. The Bernama feature has helped amplify this mission to a wider Malaysian audience, demonstrating how playful and resourceful design can inspire sustainable futures.
