The Regional Workshop “Women, Peace and Security National Action Plans in the Arab Region: Challenges and Opportunities” organised by the League of Arab States (LAS) in collaboration with UN Women and the Jordanian National Commission for Women on 10 and 11 December 2017 in Amman, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.Dr Sahla Aroussi, was invited to speak at the Regional Workshop “Women, Peace and Security National Action Plans in the Arab Region: Challenges and Opportunities”. The workshop was held on 10 and 11 December 2017 in Amman, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. The purpose of the workshop was to support LAS member states in developing plans of action for the implementation of resolutions on women, peace and security at the national level by addressing some of the key challenges encountered by relevant actors in NAP development, implementation and evaluation. The workshop was organised by the League of Arab States (LAS) in collaboration with United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women) and the Jordanian National Commission for Women. The regional workshop brought together leading government officials representing women machineries, Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Military and Security Sectors concerned with implementing women, peace, and security United Nations Security Council Resolutions as well as relevant regional and international organizations. Sahla Aroussi spoke on the first panel of the workshop along with Ambassador Moushira Kattab, the Chair of Women in Foreign Policy Group in the Egyptian Council of Foreign Affairs and a Former Minister of Family and population in Egypt and Ms Ines Mekkawy, the Director of Women, Family and Childhood Department of League of Arab States.
