Our session critiqued the paradigm of internationalisation, and how a research agenda should call for a reshaping, renaming and refining of the intentions and driving force underpinning internationalisation of the curriculum (IoC). We framed this discussion drawing on two papers Patel (2017); Joseph, (2011). We discussed ways to reconfigure the way academics engage with IoC with more emphasis on the ethical, social, cultural and academic aims of internationalisation as a word curriculum. This was viewed as the important research agenda and the focus of our work within the Research Centre for Global Education: Equity and Attainment (GLEA), at Coventry University. We also discussed the contested views about how employability is used to promote the internationalisation agenda and drew attention to the need for renaming /reframing the language of internationalisation.
