This paper outlines methodological approaches I use within my PhD work and the implications of these. I outline my use og first person action research and auto ethnography to critically reflect on implications of insider/outsider positionality as a community organiser and researcher. Approaches to epistemology and praxis in this study are guided by critical and engaged pedagogies. Through reflective consolidation of experiences participating and organising in grassroots spaces led by UK Tamil diaspora from Sri Lanka I explore praxis of co-designing and co-facilitating creative participatory workshops. Throughout this process reflexivity around positionality and power as a researcher/community organiser working across the grassroots and UK academic institutions is considered.
