Description
The conference seeks to showcase high-quality, occupation-focused practice for occupational therapists working with children, young people and families, through keynote speakers, service user presentations, posters and workshops. In 2024, we will be welcoming Iona Novak as our keynote speaker. Iona is a highly-regarded Occupational Therapist and Researcher, with The University of Sydney. She will be introducing our conference theme – “Participation Matters” – with a focus on how Occupational Therapists support children, young people and families towards their participation goals.
Thursday’s session will be a pre-conference workshop, entitled “Participation Matters: Delivering better outcomes”. With demand for services increasing and ongoing workforce challenges, the workshop will centre around how we can design services to deliver Occupational Therapy effectively and cost-efficiently.
Friday’s conference theme is “Participation Matters: Going for goals”. The theme emphasises the importance of meaningful goal-setting and we will be welcoming abstract submissions between January and March 2024 on topics relating to participation, goals, evidence-based practice, meaning and motivation. The day will open with Iona Novak’s keynote presentation and follow with three streams of presentations, including our service user keynote presentation, posters and debate.
