Description
Workshop/Seminar Style Title: Ethics and Equity in Dance and Theatre Practice Research The necessity to engage in a dialogue around the issues of Ethics and Equity in Dance and Theatre have been identified in the field of artistic practice and in the academic sector of Practice Research (PR). This workshop/seminar is directed to postgraduate researchers (PGRs), artists and early career researchers (ECRs). To guide our research, through the project’s newly established working group, we are designing a survey to identify themes and questions that resonate with artists and artist researchers. The results of this survey will be shared and will be used as a primer to guide the conversation. With a commitment to ethical and responsible research that supports both HE and the dance, theatre and arts sector, the session will investigate the challenges the sector faces and discover the needs that lie ahead for the art forms in carrying out ethical research. Our focus will be on PR in dance and theatre and we will discuss the moral and ethical implications of this research methodology within HE. We will employ, and use as the springboard for discussion, the recent findings of the ADiE project that recommends ‘rethinking attitudes towards ethics procedures’ (Bacon & Midgelow 2019, p.49) when making art.Period | 12 Feb 2021 |
