Description

Between 2014 and 2017, IOM Indonesia and Coventry University’s (CU) Centre for Peace & Security (CPS) conducted joint research focusing on maritime security challenges in Indonesia, which falls within IOM’s mandate. Through this research, the understanding of maritime security by key Indonesian stakeholders had been explored, including the links between transnational organised crime (TOC) in the Indonesian fishing industry were researched in depth.

As a continuation of the previous research, focusing on the links between TOC in the maritime space and challenges that fall within IOM’s scope and mandate, IOM will hold capacity building for IOM staff on Maritime Security which will be delivered by Dr Ioannis Chapsos, Coventry University, under the STREAM project, funded by the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) of the U.S. Department of State.
