    Description

    Building on BAWE

The BAWE (British Academic Written English) corpus is a collection of university student writing, assessed as successful by content lecturers across many disciplines. This paper will first describe the composition of the corpus and the different ways it can be freely accessed by researchers, teachers and learners.
This paper will then outline different uses of BAWE and suggest how Vietnamese researchers, teachers and learners could build on BAWE. This includes a focus on the use of digital tools in existing descriptions of BAWE (notably genre families and some lexico-grammatical features); in the use of the BAWE corpus as a Reference corpus; and in the use of the BAWE corpus in developing teaching materials.
