Description
Al-Khwarizmi, a Persian scientist, made significant contributions to mathematics, and the term 'algorithm' originates from his name, adapted from its Arabized version by Westerners to honor him. Algorithms, which are step-by-step procedures for solving problems, form the foundation of programming and computational mathematics, making mathematical results truly impactful only when expressed algorithmically. However, many undergraduate students struggle with math due to a lack of real-world applications in teaching, often because lecturers fail to connect abstract concepts with practical use. To address this, the 'Future Algorithms' conference—translated as 'Future Khwarizmis' in Persian—aims to inspire students by emphasizing the link between algorithms and Al-Khwarizmi’s legacy. By ensuring that talks are accessible to undergraduate students in mathematics, statistics, and computer science, and by highlighting real-world applications, the event seeks to motivate and excite young minds, encouraging them to develop innovative algorithms and become the Khwarizmis of the future.
