Emotional Attachment to a discipline, course or module can improve the 'bitter fruits of learning' Τῆς παιδείας ἔφη τὰς μὲν ῥίζας εἶναι πικράς, τὸν δὲ καρπὸν γλυκύν (Aristotle quoted by Diogenes Laertius in his Lives of Philosophers bk. 5, sect. 18 ~180-235? AD). This presentation considers the constructs of Attachment, Emotional Attachment, Emotional Presence and Emotional Intelligence that could help teachers engage disadvantaged learners to attenuate inequality and alienation.
