Title: Tackling the ‘hydra’ of gun crime in Europe: Findings from Project EFFECT. Abstract This paper will discuss the findings from the EFFECT project (15 months project), funded by DG ISEC Home Affairs of the European Union, which looked at: -Assessing the nature and prevalence of gun enabled crime across select EU and candidate countries -Identifying challenges to effectively preventing gun enabled crime in the future through legislation and policing -Identifying successful initiatives that reduce gun enabled crime -Examining the potential role of ballistics intelligence gathering and cross-border sharing in the prevention of the illegal use of firearmsPeriod | 6 Jul 2016 |
